BDO in Indonesia’s Yudhi Prasetyo: Build holistic culture of trust through continuous supply chain risk assessment

As Indonesia's technology industry continues to advance in 2026, organisations are placing greater emphasis on cybersecurity, data governance, and sustainable innovation. Leaders with deep expertise in digital transformation and cyber resilience play an increasingly critical role in shaping the industry and the country's digital future. Yudhi Prasetyo, Head of Digital Services at BDO in Indonesia, exemplifies these capabilities with over 25 years in consulting, covering banking, financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing, and more.

Cybersecurity Maturity in Indonesia

Prasetyo notes that cybersecurity maturity in Indonesia is a tale of two extremes. Heavily regulated sectors like financial services operate at a high level due to OJK mandates, while less regulated sectors like manufacturing are dangerously exposed. He advises leaders to accept that breaches are happening and honestly assess their current maturity baseline before investing in solutions.

Balancing AI Innovation with Responsibility

Indonesian companies are eager to adopt AI but face a regulatory gap. Prasetyo recommends voluntary benchmarking against the ASEAN Guide on AI Governance and Ethics, creating cross-functional AI committees, and maintaining a human-in-the-loop to ensure fairness and transparency.

Building Digital Trust

According to Prasetyo, digital trust requires legally binding identity verification beyond brand reputation. He advocates for compliance with Indonesia's Personal Data Protection (PDP) Law combined with CA Providers (PSrE). Organisations must build a holistic culture of trust through continuous risk assessment across the entire supply chain.

Lessons for Digital Transformation

Successful digital transformation views technology as an enabler of business, not an isolated IT project. Prasetyo emphasises that change management and upskilling talent are as important as technology itself. Leaders must build adaptable, human-centric ecosystems that create lasting value.

Prasetyo served as a judge at the Indonesia Technology Excellence Awards 2026, evaluating best practices in cybersecurity, AI governance, data privacy, and digital transformation.
